The Birthday Surprise of my Life...

I can't believe my birthday has rolled around again. My wonderful hubby, in all his cleverness set up the surprise of a lifetime....A HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE over Tucson at sunrise. I can say that it was nothing short of amazing - a birthday I will NEVER forget.
He set up the surprise with his mom and had her come over and spend the night, so our early departure would not disturb our sleeping beauty baby.
We left home at 4:45am and drove across town. We arrived at the launch site in time to watch the men inflate the balloon.

Soon after, we were flying just above the trees - looking down on the beautiful scenery and wildlife.Captain Ron, the pilot, told us that we were in for an adventure. He had control of two things: up and down. He didn't know where we would go, what we would see, or where we would land...

A while later, we climbed in altitude to about 6500 ft above sea level - about 4000 ft off the ground. We cruised around - wherever the wind chose to take us.

An hour or so after take off, Captain Ron landed the balloon smoothly on an access road. The chase van came to meet us.

We toasted the trip with some sparkling apricot juice.

The day just beginning, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast at a local resort and took the movie "Earth." After all that, we were anxious to get home to our baby girl. . .and take a nap.
