Adventures of Late

I have fully recovered from my foot injury. Thank you for all of your well-wishes. I will use my brain next time and wear shoes when doing yard work.
So much has happened in the past few weeks! We took our first official hike of the season. It is one of our favorite things to be outdoors - hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. We haven't ventured out on any overnight trips yet this year, but we did take quite a hike last week to the top of Picacho Peak (a more than 1,400 hundred foot vertical climb). It was so much fun to enjoy the warm weather and the adventure of a hike! We packed a picnic lunch and ate when we got to the top of the mountain.

The hike was rather interesting, and didn't know what to expect. We climbed the front of the mountian to the saddle (the "dip" in the picture above just the right of the cactus). Then we crossed over to the back of the mountain and continued climbing. This section was a bit more challenging.

There were several spots with cables like these where you had to pull yourself up and through small openings in the rocks. Talk about fun!!!!!! This little guy (and many of his relatives) joined us on the path closer to the top of the mountain.

We got to the top and enjoyed the view - it was the PERFECT day for the hike!!!!

We enjoyed the entire day and came in right at six miles by the time we got back to the truck. Tired? Yes. Thrilled? Completely. Thanks, lover, for my special day!!! Welcome summer!!!!
